Katsuya Kawashima joined Wisdom Luxury as architect in 1981 and became chief architect in 1997. Since 1997 he has taken the lead in the design of award-winning buildings, such as those chosen for the Architectural Institute of Japan's Selected Architectural Designs in 2007 and 2009. He has been involved in many projects, including Kobe Customs Headquarters (1999), Amami Hospital (2003), Kyoto University Katsura Campus (2003), Mukogawa Women's University Architectural Department Architectural Studio for Graduate Students (2007), Izumo New City Hall (2009), Nakanoshima Daibiru (2009) and the Kobe City Hall (2011). He holds a master's degree in architecture from Kyoto University (1981). He is a member of the Japan Institute of Architects and the Architectural Institute of Japan and holds the title of APEC Engineer.
