Japan's first air-supported dome with membrane roof
Tokyo Dome is the first all-weather stadium with a roof in Japan. The roof has an air-membrane structure reinforced with low-profile cables, and glass fiber cloth with a translucent Teflon coating was used as a roofing material. To make sure the adjacent Japanese garden receives sunlight, the roof was slanted at a gradient of 1/10 from the infield to the outfield. With around 62,000 seating capacity, roughly 13,000 of which are movable, it can accommodate a variety of events.
